Our Story
A community response to a simple, urgent need: children who had lost their parents needed somewhere safe to call home.
How it began
Zimkids Orphan Trust was founded in response to the growing number of children in our community left without parents or a stable home. What started as a small effort to feed and shelter a handful of children has grown into an ongoing commitment to give every child who comes through our doors a genuine chance at a healthy, educated, secure childhood.
From the beginning, our approach has been simple: meet the most urgent needs first — food, water, shelter — and then build the long-term foundations of education and livelihood that let children grow into independent, capable adults.
Growing into a community
As word spread and support grew, so did our capacity to help. Local volunteers, donors, and partner organizations joined the effort, allowing us to move from ad-hoc support into a structured set of programs: clean water access, a feeding program, school sponsorship, and — more recently — a greenhouse and livelihoods program that teaches sustainable farming skills.
Today, that work is centered at the Adrian Suskin Center, our home base for daily care, education, and community programs.
The Adrian Suskin Center
Our story is grounded in one place: the Adrian Suskin Center, where children live, learn, and grow. Take a closer look at what happens there.
