Why medical and psychosocial care matters
Many of our children arrive at the Center having lost parents to illness, having been moved between relatives, or carrying responsibilities far beyond their years. A local doctor provides free medical care for our children, and all beneficiaries are tested for HIV, with those who test positive connected to treatment and ongoing support. We also provide trained counseling to help children process grief, trauma, and the pressures of caregiving at a young age.
This care does not stop at physical health. Our staff, many of them alumni themselves, are trained to recognize when a child needs support beyond what a classroom or a meal can provide.
