Money Matters
Zimkids Orphan Trust serves 200-300 orphans through the generosity of donors, individuals, religious organizations, civic groups, and arts organizations. Our children make dolls and wire toys for their own play, and regularly create extras as a thank you to donors, who receive a photograph and short biography of the toymaker. We encourage donors to write to the makers of dolls they purchase, and the dollmakers to write back. It's one of the ways we build real relationships between supporters and the children they help.
One hundred percent of donations go directly to the children: food, school fees, clothing, vocational training, and medical care, administered by our staff on the ground in Bulawayo.
We're also grateful for grant support over the years from groups including the Independent Pilots Association (UPS), the Shea Family Foundation, and Microsoft Youth Spark, support that goes directly to school fees, food, and medical care for the children.
